Roadway paving complete between 2nd to 4th; next construction plans have changed

July 24 Update

Main Street between 2nd and 4th Street was paved earlier this week. The roadway remains closed to install manholes and paint traffic lanes but is expected to reopen to vehicular traffic the week of July 29. Sidewalk pavers are being installed in the area through early August 9. Pedestrian access is open; use the dedicated pathways provided in work areas. Main Street intersections, except Sun Valley Road, are open.

UP NEXT

Earlier delays due to the unexpected roadway foundation replacement and unavailability of contractors and supplies have resulted in schedule changes for the next construction phases. These adjustments will help avoid conflicts with Idaho Transportation Department’s (ITD) work south of River Street in 2025/26 (and the traffic and business access issues that would have occurred) and ensures paving can take place before ITD’s October 15 warrantee deadline. An overview of the new schedule is listed below. Complete details are available at projectketchum.org/main-street.

  • Late July to early October 2024: River Street through 2nd Street
  • April to late May 2025: 4th Street through 6th Street
  • Mid-May through July 2025: 6th Street through 10th Street (pending ITD funding)

ACCESS

Pedestrian access is open throughout construction and parking is free at the Washington Avenue lot. Buses are using the Second Avenue detour route (click here for information).

All Ketchum businesses are open throughout the project—be sure to stop by and show your support!
