Utilities
The Ketchum Utilities Department consists of full-time water and wastewater operators and administrative staff. All water and wastewater operations personnel are licensed by the Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licenses.
Utilities Department personnel actively monitor all municipal drinking water wells as required by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (IDEQ) to ensure that our water meets or exceeds all state and federal drinking water standards. Wastewater plant operators ensure that all wastewater that is discharged into the Big Wood River meets or exceeds all of the requirements as regulated in our National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit that is regulated by the USEPA under the Clean Water Act.
As fellow residents of the Wood River Valley, our water and wastewater professional staff is keenly aware of the importance and need for clean drinking water and clean rivers. The conservation and protection of this resource continues to be our utmost goal.
