Join the City of Ketchum for a Big Air Rail Jam

KETCHUM, IDAHO – The City of Ketchum, Sun Valley Film Festival, Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation and their partners invite residents and visitors to Town Square and East Avenue to Celebrate the Spirit of Ketchum at the Big Air Rail Jam.

This is a free event on Thursday, Mar. 14, from 6:30 to 10 p.m.

Thursday morning, Lunceford & Exon Excavation gets things started by filling East Avenue with snow. Along with their loader, the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation and local volunteers, all with shovels in hand, will use their expertise to construct “East Avenue Park” starting at approximately 11 a.m. This will be a show in itself.

“I’ve heard a lot of requests to bring back the rail jam and our partnership event with the Sun Valley Film Festival seemed to be the perfect opportunity,” said Mayor Neil Bradshaw. “What’s really making this event possible is the incredible amount of volunteer work by the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, Lunceford Excavation and many others,” he added.

The celebration gets underway with music by DJ Locomotive at 6:30 p.m. and the rail jam at 7 p.m., equipped with resident MC (and SVSEF coach) Andy Gilbert. Short films by Stellar Media will roll all night on the big screen in Town Square.

Come prepared to enter the second annual vintage ski wear contest and win big prizes from Sun Valley Film Festival sponsors, including a cruiser bike and Yeti cooler. The contest takes place at 9:30 p.m.

Top off the evening listening to The Jacks at the Film Festival’s “Sorry I Like to Party” party at Whiskey Jacques. The party is free and open to the public.

Food and beverage will be available from KB’s Burrito and Warfield. Complimentary hot chocolate will also be provided by the city.

The event is proudly presented by the City of Ketchum, Sun Valley Film Festival and Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation along with partners Lunceford & Exon Excavation and Stellar Media.
