The fuse is lit on finding a solution for fire.

With the termination of the contract for fire services between the Ketchum Rural Fire District and the City, the pressure is on to find a solution that works for all parties.

It is clear that all stakeholders are committed to finding a way to keep us safe… but the clock is ticking! I believe unification of the fire and ambulance services of north Blaine County to be a fundamentally good idea with substantial benefits. Flexibility by all parties will be the key to making this happen. I am truly thankful for all the input and encouragement I am receiving from stakeholders and public alike.

We talk fire next week – Council on April 15 and Workshop on April 17 – both at 4pm. On April 15 at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting, we will outline some of the alternatives available to the City. On Wednesday, April 17, we will hold a workshop to review some of these alternatives and receive input from the public. No decisions will be made, but comments and discussions will help shape our path forward.

Farmers' Market. A successful farmers' market is a sign of a happy, healthy and vibrant town. My vision for a farmers' market in Ketchum is for one that represents a welcoming place for local vendors to sell locally grown and locally sourced products at a location with broad community support. Read my guest opinion here (link here). More ideas have come to light and I look forward to hearing more community input at the next council meeting.

I hope you are getting in a few more turns before the end of the season!
