This Town is made for Walkin’ — workshop shows the way.

Word 9.13.jpg
Last week a number of city officials, county representatives and members of the public attended a workshop that showed us how we can make our town even more walkable. It was a delightful day of brainstorming ways to get people out of their car and onto their feet. The good news is that our town is very walkable already – but we learned that there is much more we can do, especially when we consider our shortcomings regarding ADA accessibility. It was wonderful to see that our council is committed to improving accessibility for all.

Budget for fiscal year 2019 is in the books. Our budget is now approved and we look forward to a year of prudent, intentional spending. This budget is about balance; not only the balance between revenues and expenses, but the balance between investing in our future while saving for less prosperous times. I am delighted the council has approved a budget that I believe achieves a healthy balance between fiscal responsibility while spending on initiatives that will move Ketchum towards our vision of a city that is vibrant, connected, sustainable and safe.

We are all ambassadors for our town. A big thank you to everyone in our valley for making the Wagon Days weekend such a wonderful success. For me, it was particularly heartwarming to witness (on a number of occasions) a resident giving directions or recommendations to a visitor. We are all representatives of our valley and a visitor’s experience can be dramatically enhanced through a special connection with a resident who shares thoughts, or gives some local advice. I want to thank everyone here in our valley for being great ambassadors.

I am looking forward to more walking. I hope you are too.
