The City of Ketchum has made a special logo, designed specifically to celebrate and promote next month’s solar eclipse, available to Ketchum and Sun Valley business owners and retailers interested in marketing the rare event.

Total Solar Eclipse,” features Ketchum and Sun Valley in the path of totality across the state and includes the exact date and time the moon will pass between Earth and the sun and momentarily dim the light across much of the Wood River Valley.

For business owners, the logo is free and can be used to adorn merchandise of all kinds, from shirts and caps to water bottles, coffee cups and stickers.

“This is another effort by the city to show support for local businesses and our ‘Buy Local’ campaign,” said Ketchum Mayor Nina Jonas. “The idea of having one logo that all businesses and retailers can use is a smart and effective way to promote and market this once-in-a-lifetime event.”

The total solar eclipse is expected to occur on Aug. 21 at 11:29 a.m. and Ketchum and Sun Valley fall within the pathway projected for prime viewing. The cities, local leaders and business owners are preparing for the more than 30,000 people projected to visit the city and surrounding area in the days before and after the event.

More information on the eclipse and community event hosted by the cities of Ketchum and Sun Valley can be found at ketchumsunvalleyeclipse2017.com.

City staff will email the logo to business license holders or provide it upon requests made to participate@ketchumidaho.org.
